According to the structure of Pakistan, it is the State's
responsibility to provide free primary education. At the time of liberation
Pakistan had only one university, the University of the Punjab, founded in 1882
in Lahore. Pakistan is now more than 132 universities of which 73 are public
universities and 59 private universities.
Commenting on the international
recognition of the university, Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr
Javed Laghari said last year, FBISE

programs leading to graduate and advanced degrees.
According to the Higher Education
Commission of Pakistan, a senior official of the federal public universities is
to increase the level of education in the world ranking of HEC and all
university degree awarding institutions of academic standards and the quality
of research has made significant progress in improving the country, including
the University of the Federal Government. There are four accredited
parliamentary Commission for Higher Education was established in the country to
monitor the quality of education. Federal

process of higher education reform, focusing on the teaching staff, improve and
expand, to promote excellence in teaching and research, in order to ensure the
relevance of the economy, improving quality, improving governance and
management practices and the development of physical infrastructure.
A number of steps have been taken to advance the
educational standards of the universities of Pakistan including process of
faculty development to expand the quality of teaching and research maintenance
in institutions through beset programmers to improve the skills and
qualifications of faculty members.

certification has been introduced to create and implement strict quality
standards, FBISE

standard-setting procedures and performance level.
